Summary of Thoughts: This pretty much just started out as a short story, but then I guess I saw potential for it as something else and made this the Prologue. I have a small section of Chapter One on WORD, whether or not I will get it done up and on here in any time soon is questionable though.
PROLOGUE
A huge crash of thunder and jolt of lightning echoed through the empty field surrounding the Saintshine residence. Two teenaged girls sat in the living room waiting for the Saintshines to return home from a business trip. "Oh god. I hate thunderstorms." Samantha Golen sat huddled in a ball at a friends house. "Sam, relax." her best friend Alexandria tried to reassure her. It wasn't working. "When are you're parents coming home?" Samantha asked. Alexandria looked up at the clock. "In about half an hour." she lied. Alexandrias parents wouldn't be coming home for another two hours. "Good." Samantha said changing her position on the couch. "Sam. No offence or anything, but you are seventeen. And it is just a thunderstorm." Sam nodded her head in agreement. "So come on, sit up and we'll play clue or something." Alexandria pulled Samanthas arm and Samantha finally sat up straight. "Okay, fine." Samantha got up from the couch and walked over to the front closet where she knew Alexandrias parents kept the games. She opened the door and turned on the hall light. She turned back around and looked at the mountain of games. She reached up and held monopoly while she grabbed clue with her other hand and slowly brought it down. When she turned around to go back to the living room Alexandria was standing right behind her. "Ahh!" Samantha shrieked. "Sorry I was just waiting to get by so I could make some more popcorn." she explained waving the large bowl in front of Sam. "Well you could have said something." Samantha argued. "Sam you've seen way too many scary movies. Nothing is going to happen. My parents will be home soon, the phone lines are dead so no one will call and start asking us about our favorite scary movies. And we have Butch here too." she said pointing to the big German shepherd sleeping on the mat by the patio door. Samantha smiled. "Okay okay. Nothing is going to happen. Hurry up with that popcorn." she said walking back to the living room to set up the game. Samantha could here the microwave humming as she put three cards into the small envelope.
Then Samantha heard something in the backyard. She turned around as fast as she could to see Butch standing up scratching the back door. "Sam, could you let butch out please." Alexandria shouted to her over the humming and popping from the microwave. Sam didn't answer because she thought Alex would never hear her so she just got up and slid the thin glass door open. Behind her, the microwave beeped and the popping slowed. Butch walked slowly outside as small raindrops landed on Sams feet. "C'mon butch hurry up." she said shivering as butch was finally all the way into the backyard. Sam returned to the floor in front of the couch and sat down. "You know Alex, you guys should really get a new glass door. Im surprised butch hasn't broken this one, it's so thin." Samantha explained as Alex returned with the bowl of hot popcorn. "Yeah I know it's the same glass as our windows. When those guys came over last week to replace our windows they put that in too and of course the ended up screwing it up." Alex was frustrated with the thin glass because if you were sitting outside you could here the football game as if you were sitting in the living room. "They said they'd be back to replace it again for free tomorrow." Sam nodded and shoved a fistful of popcorn in her mouth. Just then something hit the back window and it spider webbed across the entire thin pane. Samantha screamed at the top of her lungs and Alexandria joined her. They both turned around to see butch at the back door whimpering. Alexandria got up to let him out. She slid the broken door open. "Butch you scared the shit out of us girl." Alexandria looked out into the darkness. Butch limped into the house. Alex got down on her knees and touched Butch's side. She pulled her hand away and saw that it was covered in blood. "Oh my god." Samantha was standing up behind Alex and she saw the blood too. Butch fell to the ground lifeless. Alex started to cry and Samantha began to walk towards her. Just before Samantha could reach out to touch Alexandrias shoulder someone from outside beat her to it. The strange hand grabbed Alexandria and pulled her into the rain. Samantha could hear her friend scream and the door slammed shut.
Scared out of her mind Samantha ran back to the front of the couch and got down on her knees. Samantha noticed the silence and it scared her even more. Alex was dead and so was butch. She was alone in the house and now someone was hiding outside. What was she going to do? When something flew through the back door Samantha screamed again and cried all at once. She lay still on the floor under the table hoping not to be noticed. When she opened her eyes she saw Alexandria staring back at her. Face covered in blood. Samantha saw the large slit across her throat and jerked her head back, hitting it on the underside of the table. She got out from under the table and ran without looking back. She ran up the spiral staircase and trough the study, which was home to several guns and other weapons. The first thing she saw was the shotgun so she punched through the glass and grabbed it. She checked for bullets and when she was satisfied they were there she continued through the house. She slid into Alexandrias parents room, and into the closet. She focused on slowing her breath. The gun in her hand was shaking rapidly. She went to the back of the enormous walk in closet and hid next to the door that led to the main bathroom. Her sweaty hands slid on the doorknob. She stopped everything and listened. She heard the floor creak and she knew where the killer was. The only creak in the floor was just outside of the main bathroom, which meant she had to move and fast. She stumbled throughout the dark closet and dropped the gun when the door swung open. She screamed and ran to the bedroom. She shut the doors behind her as she ran back the way she had come. This time she didn't go downstairs, instead she went to the library. There was an entire wall that was one big window and she knew she could get down using the lattice. A faint smile crossed her face when she thought she would escape. She swung the door open and shut but it bounced open with the amount of power she used. She looked back as she ran through the library to the window. She didn't have anytime to react when the large javelin pierced her stomach and came out the other side of her body. The weight of the javelin and her running sent her through the window. Her face contorted as she became pierced with shards of glass. She waved her arms frantically as she fell the two stories right into the pool in the backyard. Glass from the window dove in after her, piercing her more. The crystal clear water was fast becoming red. The chlorine burned as she took in water and drowned.
