"Daddy! Uncle James!" A young girl swung open the front door, dropped her bookbag and ran up the four stairs that would lead her to the main level of the house. "I'm home!" she shouted. Down in the basement they could hear their goddaughter checking each of the upstairs rooms for her parents. James turned his focus form the laptop computer he was working on and took off his glasses. He glanced over at the other man sitting at a desk across the room. "What?!" the other man asked with a smirk. Standing up, James put the laptop on his desk next to the couch he was sitting on. "Why are you always 'daddy'?" he asked placing his glasses on the desk too. The other man just gave a quick grin. Just then the young girl came pounding down the stairs as fast and as loud as she could. "Dad! Dad! Guess what? Guess what?" she was obviously very excited about something. She ran over to Scott, who was still comfortably sitting in his large computer chair. Newspapers, crumpled up paper and pictures of the three of them with various recording artists were scattered on his desk. "What is it Jenn?" he asked her, letting her jump up onto his lap. James stood watching them, then turned briefly to grab his coffee cup from his desk. Jenn began frantically explaining her excitement to Scott as James stood watching and drinking his tea. "Jenn, Jenn, Jenn, slow down Hun" Scott told her, gently putting his hand over her mouth. Jenn pushed her dirty blonde hair behind her ears and took a deep breath. "I did my presentation today," the mention of her presentation made James ears perk, so he moved closer to them. "And?" Scott urged her on, glancing up at James, who now stood with his hand on Scott chair. "And when I was finished the whole class was really quiet and no one said anything. Then Ms. Baxter made a coughing noise and asked if anyone had any questions. No one did!" James and Scott exchanged glances. Jenn laughed. "And then, after school, she pulled me aside and told me that I got 100% n my presentation, because it 'showed maturity and great thought'." She tried her best at imitating her teacher's voice. Again James and Scott exchanged glances and smiled at one another. James put his coffee cup down on an old newspaper on Scott's desk and picked up Jenn from Scotts lap. She wrapped her arms around his neck and he let her hang there for a second while he let her go and put his arms around her, trapping her in a bear hug. "Jenn, I'm so proud of you!" he exclaimed letting her down and giving her a kiss on the forehead. Scott then stood up as well and gave her a hug too. Then, in his most feminine voice he could muster up, while bobbing his head and snapping his fingers he said, "You go girl!" The three of them laughed and James placed his right hand on Scott's left shoulder. "You're a nut." He exclaimed smiling at him. "Yeah but thats why you love me." He said putting his hands on James' waist. Pulling him closer and into a hug James whispered in his ear. "Yeah, you're right." He admitted wrapping his arms around Scott. Jenn stood there, feeling slightly out of place, giggling. Standing there while the two of them hugged, in her denim capris and blue Lasenza Girl shirt, she again pushed her hair behind her right ear and smiled.
